DRI d'Italia (controlled by Invitalia) was established in early 2022 with the aim of creating, for the first time in Italy, a production plant of Direct Reduced Iron (DRI), an excellent feedstock for electric furnaces that allows to significantly reduce the use of carbon-coke to produce steel (thus the term "decarbonisation").
The project, which marks a decisive step towards reconverting the Italian steel sector (in line with EU Commission's "zero emissions" strategy by 2050), will see Keyst1 as a consultant to DRI d'Italia on the "decarbonisation" of Taranto Steel Mill via DRI.
